Lock technology has moved on a long way. For many businesses, keyless entry removes the hassle of cutting, collecting and replacing keys every time staff change. We supply and install commercial keyless locks, including products from makers such as Schlage.
Electronic keypad locks
Opened with a code entered on a keypad or touchscreen. Some models add Bluetooth or smartphone access and keep an audit trail of who entered and when. Codes can be added and removed in minutes.
Consider: batteries need replacing, and you need someone responsible for managing codes.
Mechanical push-button locks
Opened by entering a combination on mechanical buttons, then turning the knob or lever. No batteries and no wiring, which makes them reliable for storerooms and staff areas.
Consider: changing the code takes a little more effort, and there is no record of who used it.
Biometric locks
Use a fingerprint scanner that can be programmed for multiple users. No codes to share or forget.
Consider: higher cost, and you will want a backup method of entry.
Which type do you need?
- High-traffic doors with changing staff: electronic keypad with audit trail.
- Back rooms and stores: mechanical push-button.
- High-value areas: biometric, ideally with an audit log.
Fire exits and egress doors have specific requirements, so we will check what is appropriate for each door.
